“How do I know what to write about on my blog?”   “How can I get ideas for blog posts so I’m not writing the same old thing over and over?”  “Is there a list of ideas for blog posts I can use?”

I was asked all three questions just this past week, so I thought it would be a good topic to cover here.

Know Your Target Audience- Who They Are and What They Need

I’ve said this a thousand times and I’ll probably say it at least a thousand more, but before you can really create a successful blog, you need to figure out who your target audience is and what their interest and needs are.  If you know this, you should always know what to write about.  Give them what they need- write posts that solve a problems they may have, that answer questions they have, or that they will find interesting to read.

If you have truly done your homework and know your target demographic, what appeals to them, what problems they have, etc., 99% of the battle is won.  If  you still need ideas, then try the tips below.

Five Ways to Spark Ideas for Your Blog Posts

1) Your calls

You don’t have to write about your actual call (unless he’s an attention whore and requested it) but pay attention to his fantasies, to things he says, even outside of the fantasy.  If you really listen while keeping this purpose in mind, you’ll find all sorts of  ideas.

2) ETE blogs

Reading other ETE blogs can give you ideas and inspiration for your own posts.  Of course you don’t want to copycat, but if you import them all to Google Reader and read all the new posts each day, you can get bits and pieces from each of them that will form an entirely new idea in your head.

3) Questions you’ve been asked

I’m sure you get tons of emails asking “what do you think about…”, “what should I do about…, “how do I…”.   Chances are if one client is asking the question, 5 more are thinking it but haven’t been able to ask.  Instead of just replying the answer back in an email, write it up in a blog post too.  You could even make one blog post a “mailbag” of questions if you’ve had several questions that don’t require a whole blog post devoted to them.

4) Fetish fodder

There are always “fetish newbies” out there, trying to learn all they can about their new found obsession and others who have focused solely on one aspect of their fetish that they may be unaware of other facets of the fetish.  Maybe there are some little known facts about the fetish or a curiosity of how the fetish came to be, etc.  These informational posts are always popular and if you SEO it right, your post will show up when somebody searches for information on that fetish.

5) Erotic Fiction

Reading erotic fiction gets the juices flowing in more ways than one.  Not only will you be inspired with writing ideas, but you’ll have a whole slew of new steamy adjectives to use in the process!  So, go check out the selection at Literotica and Ellora’s Cave and before you know it you’ll be jotting down ideas for future blog posts even while writing your current one!

Happy Writing!
