I think this is why I have such an aversion to boring people… particularly those who run from even the thought of anything adventurous, or daring, or simply what the majority deems "unacceptable". I can't see why anyone would want to deny themselves what they desire, or choose to languish in an existence of simple repetition or frustration. There are enough things in life already set against us when it comes to what we wish we could do, and the limits of what we can. The bulk of one's new experiences shouldn't be found in youth, they should coat the whole of a lifetime. I know there are situations people find themselves in where their choices become limited, but too often those limitations are really self made. There is always some outlet that can be reconciled with one's responsibilities, so long as it isn't smothered by one's fears.
 
I much prefer to surround myself with interesting people of all sorts who both embrace who they feel they are, and who aren't afraid to walk where others hesitate to go. Those steps need not be great strides, they could even be no more than baby steps, just so long as they move forward into new or more "daring" territory. I have become quite an open-minded person when it comes to where I find these individuals and what packages they come in. If you judge books only by their covers, you'll miss many a good adventure… that isn't simply an oft heard cliché, it's the truth.
 
Now, in this particular context I am talking primarily about things revolving around one's sexuality, but in the greater sense, what I just said isn't at all limited to just that aspect of life… particularly mine. Such is true in general of all things, and there is obviously much more to life that is adventurous than just those pieces related to sex. While I especially enjoy my sexuality and its foundation in female domination, and my conversations here are focused on it, my interests are far greater ranging and share that depth, diversity and adventure that my sexual habits do, at least in my eyes… but that is a conversation for another place and day.
 
I think anyone who has been involved with the BDSM scene (or for that matter most any truly alternative lifestyle) for more than a minimal amount of time, comes to be somewhat open-minded regarding sexual preferences and partners, at least to some degree… as often does anyone who has moved beyond society's imposed prejudices in general, choosing instead to admit what it is that they like and believe, even if only to themselves. When you start accepting other possibilities, and see that you are not the only one who thinks that way, the doors open to a wider perspective. But in this, I'm not simply talking about general tolerance of others kinks, which hopefully grows in time, what I am particularly referring to is what attracts us to other people, and how the importance of what's beyond the surface packaging rises when placed in this context. The more diverse and unique ones erotic preferences become, the more they take center stage in what we look for in other people, resulting in these frequently surpassing even the most common determiner - physical beauty - in priority. Of primary importance to me is that shared interest in the "adventurous" that I spoke of, no matter how shocking so-called decent people may find my definition of that word to be ~grinz~. And so that is one of the main things I seek in others… in all the interesting ways "adventurous" may be found.
